Is 2009 a good day to buy netbooks on Black Friday?
I’m sure you’re all aware of the tiny laptops that surrounded us lately, called netbooks. Still a fresh segment, these netbooks are the smaller brothers of notebooks, with smaller screen, lower performances but also with very affordable prices.
But, although some of the best mainstream netbooks can now be found for less than $400 bucks, there are newer versions due to launch later this year, with 11.6″ screen, better resolutions and better hardware. And these are expected to jump beyond $500.
I for one am waiting for an Asus EEE PC 1101HA, the replacement of the most popular netbooks these days, the Asu 1005HA . It curently retails for $429, but with a little bit of luck… i might shave 100 bucks from this price during the winter sales period. At least that’s what i’m hoping for.
That’s why i believe this year’s Black Friday will be a good time to buy netbooks. There are 3 reasons for that:
- new and better models are dued to apper in the folowing 2 months
- Intel will launch their new ultra mobile Atom platform this fall
- Microsoft will launch Windows Vista in October
All these will bring a boost in netbooks’ sales, and hopefully a well expected price cut. So just wait a couple of months if you want a new netbook, and you might really get a great deal on those.
