Acer Iconia A500: a cheap 10 inch Android tablet

Save: $68
While initially tablets were seen as premium gadgets to be sold for not very affordable prices, lately the quality-price ratio has started to become more and more important. We are all looking for the best possible hardware and software configuration at the lowest possible price and one of the slates to offer something like that right now is the Acer Iconia Tab A500.
Currently available for only around 380 dollars, after a recent 70 bucks discount, Acer’s tablet is not the strongest, nor the most handsome gadget of its kind, but it comes with pretty much all the features you would expect at a decent price.
Sporting a very nice 10.1 inch HD multi-touch display with 1280 x 800 pixels resolution, the Tab A500 is elegant, but solid at the same time. The aluminum casing and the high-gloss anodized finish make for a very original design and the smooth, rounded surface provide grip, but also make the slate feel and look reliable.
The Iconia Tab A500 weighs only 1.7 pounds and measures just 0.5 inches in depth, being extremely slim, thin and portable. In terms of hardware, things are pretty satisfying as well, with Acer’s gadget packing an Nvidia Tegra 2 dual-core processor with 1 GB of RAM.
Running Android’s latest version, Honeycomb 3.2, the A500 is more than capable in supporting your passion for video games, but also offers access to a bunch of great apps through Android Market. Acer’s 10-incher is also great when it comes to taking pics and recording videos, the 5 MPx rear-facing camera with Auto Focus and LED Flash and the 2 MPx front-facing camera being two of the most competent on the current tablet market.
Other features include Wireless, Bluetooth, stereo speakers, a micro USB port, a full-sized USB port, micro HDMI, G-Sensor, E-Compass, light sensor and Gyro-meter, which is basically all you could expect from a 10-inch tablet nowadays.
You also get 16 GB of internal storage space, as well as a pretty strong Lithium-ion polymer battery, capable of lasting around eight hours between charges.
As you can notice, the Tab A500 doesn’t sacrifice in terms of hardware, software or looks. However, it still manages to be pretty darn affordable, costing well under the market average. What is Acer’s secret? We have no idea! What we do know is that the Tab A500 is a bargain right now and you should get it while you still can!
