Save: $163
While it is not the most powerful slate, nor the most elegant or the lightest and most portable, the Blackberry Playbook is a very well balanced tablet and should be on top of your shopping lists right now.
Why right now? Because the 7-incher has gone through a very important price cut and is now available for sale starting at only $336.13. With a snappy 1 GHz TI OMAP 4430 dual-core processor and 1 GB of RAM, the Playbook can easily compare with most of the popular tablets of today in terms of performance.
With its own BlackBerry Tablet operating system, the PlayBook is the perfect device for playing video games, all kinds of multimedia content and surfing the web. The 7-inch multi-touch capacitive LCD screen with 1024 x 600 pixels resolution is great in terms of colors, brightness, contrast, but also viewing angles, while the dual cameras are themselves pretty impressive.
The 5-megapixel rear-facing shooter and the 3 MPx front-facing camera are both capable of capturing full HD 1080p video. Furthermore, the PlayBook also comes with HDMI output, allowing you to connect the tablet to a compatible HDTV or monitor and play HD videos.
The 7-inch PlayBook is extremely light and portable as well, weighing only 15 ounces (about 425 grams) and measuring 5.1 x 7.6 x 0.4 inches (130 x 194 x 9.7 mm). In terms of connectivity, you get wireless, Bluetooth 2.1 and a microUSB port, aside from the microHDMI port we already mentioned, while in terms of storage space, you have three versions of the tablet, with 16, 32 and 64 GB of internal memory.
You won’t have to worry very much about this gadget’s autonomy, giving that the PlayBook is capable of lasting a full day’s work between charges, based on average use. You also have GPS, accelerometer, gyroscope, stereo microphones and loudspeakers, or in short everything you might need from a tablet nowadays.
And if the features and technical specs won’t convince you to get this gadget right now, the pricing will definitely do the job. The PlayBook starts at around 335 dollars (the 16 GB version) and goes to up to 547 bucks (the 64 GB model). This is one of the best quality-price ratios on the slate market at the moment, but our guess is that you won’t find the PlayBook at these amazing price for a very long time, which means that you should go and get it while you still can!
