Tablets can run video games, as well as all kinds of apps nowadays, are portable, slim and light, having progressed significantly in the past couple of years. On the other hand, there is a feature which was extremely popular at tablets in the past, but which has almost disappeared recently.
We are talking about handwriting recognition and the ability of taking notes on a high-end slate. However, while most tablets nowadays feature capacitive touchscreens, which make taking accurate notes almost impossible, there is a gadget which lets you use the display as a very advanced notebook.
The 7-inch HTC Flyer is the tablet in question and, on top of taking notes, the gadget is also very powerful and fashionable. It is powered by a 1.5 GHz single core Qualcomm processor with 1 GB of RAM and runs Android 2.3 with HTC Sense. In other words, you can pretty much run any video game you would like on the Flyer, as well as loads of other interesting and cool apps.
The 7-inch touch-sensitive screen is pretty decent in terms of colors, brightness, but also viewing angles, featuring a 1024 x 600 pixels resolution, while the overall design is almost breathtaking. The Flyer is practically the definition of portability, weighing in at just under 15 ounces (420 grams). It also measures 7.69 x 4.8 x 0.52 inches, which is pretty much as narrow and slim as this kind of gadget could be.
The battery is pretty great itself, being able to run for up to eight hours between charges, based on regular use, while the dual cameras (5 MPx rear-facing with auto focus and 1.3 MPx front-facing) should provide at least a decent quality in taking pics and recording video.
Of course, the most important and most original feature that HTC’s gadget brings to the table is the pen stylus, with which you will be able to write directly on the screen, as well as draw sketches. The actual pen experience, while not being perfect, is pretty comfortable, accurate and responsive.
The 7-incher also comes with Wireless, Bluetooth 3.0, micro-USB, a micro SD card slot, light sensor, G-sensor, digital compass, optional 3G and internal storage space of either 16 or 32 GB.
In terms of pricing, the HTC Flyer is not exactly what you would call affordable, but looking at its features and tech specs, the 381.92 dollars that you will have to take out of your pocket in order to get it is actually not that much.
