Lenovo Ideapad K1: consumer 10 inch tablet

Save: $100
Even though it is currently not among the most important players of the tablet market, Lenovo is a well known name for technology enthusiasts. And aside from manufacturing good, reliable and fashionable desktops, notebooks and netbooks, the Chinese multinational company has a couple of slates that are actually pretty underrated right now.
One of these is the 10-inch K1 IdeaPad, a very well-balanced gadget, which doesn’t necessarily impress or innovate much, but gets the job done and comes at a very good quality-price ratio.
The IdeaPad sports a very nice 10.1-inch HD display with 1280 x 800 pixels resolution and is powered by a snappy Nvidia Tegra 2 dual-core 1 GHz processor with 1 GB of RAM. Like I said before, nothing quite spectacular, but satisfying nevertheless and capable of running any video game you might want and full HD content.
The tablet’s overall design is nice as well, with a black textured cover that looks and feels great. The body is pretty slim, with the slate weighing 1.6 pounds, but at the same time sturdy and robust, breathing build quality and reliability.
In terms of software, the K1 runs Android Honeycomb 3.1, which is pretty standard nowadays, but also comes with a few minor tweaks and changes. First of all, you have access to the Lenovo App Shop, in addition to the already classic Android Market, and secondly you get a lot of pre-loaded apps and games, including the ‘’Social Touch’’ app, Angry Birds, ‘’Documents To Go’’, etc.
Other features include two very capable cameras, a 5 MPx rear-facing one and a 2 MPx front-facing one, as well as Wireless, Bluetooth, a micro SD card reader, a mini HDMI connector and a docking port. In terms of storage space, you have nothing to complain of, with an internal memory of 32 GB.
As we already mentioned, while it is not the most eye-catching, original or innovative tablet out there, Lenovo’s gadget impresses in terms of pricing, being currently available for only 349.99 dollars. This is a hundred bucks less than the original list price for the K1 and is pretty competitive in comparison with some of the other strong, powerful and portable 10-inchers on the market.
